Job summary Brown Brothers Peebles is seeking a bright, enthusiastic individual to take up a position as a full-time Apprentice Technician based in our Renault/ Dacia franchise in Peebles. At Brown Brothers, we believe in growing and developing our own talent and as a Brown Brothers Apprentice, you will receive full in-house training and relevant manufacturer training to enable you to become the best that you can be. An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Apprentice Technician, probably a school leaver to join our team. As an Apprentice Technician, your training will consist of both in-house and manufacturer training working towards a Qualification, which will be the basis for a rewarding career as a Vehicle Technician. Brown Brothers strives to develop all our employees to achieve their very best. The ideal Apprentice Technician will have the following skills and experiences: Be passionate about maintenance and innovative technology Enjoy problem solving and getting hands on in their work, believing there is always a better way! Engage with and enjoy the theoretical side of the job, which will have a maths and science base Excellent interpersonal/communication skills Self-motivated Team Player Attention to detail Organised IT Literate.

Total hours per week 40

Working hours Monday to Friday 08:00 to 17:00, every second Saturday 08:00 to 12:00.

Skills needed As an Apprentice with Brown Brothers Motor Group, you will need to: Be driven by your own initiative & an excellent communicator with the ability to maintain positive relationships. Have a keen interest in the Industry and be able to follow instructions Be enthusiastic, committed, and confident with an analytical and methodical way of thinking Be highly motivated with an eye for detail. Computer literate with the ability to confidently use Microsoft Office, Excel and Word as well as email packages. Able to demonstrate a high degree of accuracy and strong organisation skills. Be a strong communicator. Have a polite and warm telephone manner. Good numeracy skills. Be adaptable to varying tasks. Have a desire and willingness to learn. Punctual Driving Licence (Preferred, but not essential).

Additional employability support offered by the employer Apprentices face a demanding schedule of skills development, which can include learning on the job, online seminars, classroom learning, regular progress reviews and more besides. Appointed mentors help apprentices with other aspects of their development, keeping them on an even keel. Mentors are there to specifically pass on their skills and guide their mentees in navigating the world of work. Through the scheme, apprentices benefit from the counsel of more experienced professionals. The successful candidate will be assigned a workplace mentor(s), whom will assist the apprentice(s) develop their approach to work, including building rapport, teamwork, integrity and remaining positive and professional. The mentor will also provide information on company procedures, systems of operation and best practice ways of working. The mentor will be the individuals point of contact should they have any queries or issues whilst working at Brown Brothers.
